Measure by scale

Allow extra clearance around the model rather than using vehicle length alone. 1:18 pieces need substantially more depth than 1:64 cars.

Control dust and placement

Enclosed cabinets can reduce routine dust. Keep models away from obvious moisture, excessive heat and prolonged direct sunlight, and use stable shelving appropriate for the total load.

Keep a simple inventory

Record model, scale, manufacturer and packaging location. A basic inventory prevents duplicate purchases as a collection grows.
